SKF / INA PermaGlide
PermaGlide is a family of maintenance-free, metal-polymer composite plain bearings originally developed by INA and now offered across the Schaeffler Group (INA) and SKF, which share the PermaGlide brand and material system. The bearings are built on a steel backing carrying a sintered porous-bronze interlayer, onto which a polymer sliding layer is bonded — either a PTFE-based low-friction compound for dry, maintenance-free running (the "P10" material) or a POM (acetal) layer with lubrication pockets for oil- or grease-lubricated service (the "P11" material).
This construction combines the load capacity and thermal conductivity of a steel/bronze substrate with the low friction and dry-running capability of an engineered polymer, giving compact, thin-walled bearings that operate with little or no external lubrication. PermaGlide bearings are supplied as wrapped cylindrical bushes, flanged bushes, thrust washers and flat strip/blank stock, addressing rotating, oscillating and linear-sliding motion.
Within the Bushingo range these compete most directly with the Metagliss self-lubricating composite friction materials on technology, and with the BP25 oil-impregnated sintered-bronze bushes on application (compact maintenance-free bushings). Closest Bushingo technology twin is Metagliss (self-lubricating PTFE-composite friction material) — both are dry-running, maintenance-free composites. In bush form, buyers replacing PAP P10 bushes most often cross-shop Bushingo BP25 oil-impregnated sintered-bronze bushes for an equivalent bore/OD self-lubricating bush, noting BP25 uses porous bronze + oil rather than a metal-polymer/PTFE layer. FP20 sintered iron is the lighter-duty, lower-cost alternative and SO16 the sintered-alloy option.
