Flanged Iron Bushings FP20

1 products · Technical support and worldwide supply

Flanged FP20 sintered-iron bushings pair a plain journal with an integral collar for combined radial support and axial location, in an oil-impregnated, self-lubricating form. Produced by powder metallurgy and vacuum-impregnated with oil, the interconnected porosity holds a lubricant reserve that is released to the sliding surface by frictional heating and drawn back by capillary action when motion stops — no external lubrication or servicing is needed over the life of the bearing.

Compared with sintered bronze, FP20 iron is harder and offers higher load-carrying capacity at lower cost, which suits it to slow-speed, oscillating or intermittently loaded applications and to running against hardened steel shafts. This flanged range spans bores Ø3–Ø60 mm across 52 sizes, each defined by bore (Ø Int.), outside diameter (Ø Ext.), length, collar diameter (Ø Coll.) and flange thickness (Ép.). Fit by pressing into a rigid, close-tolerance housing; as the bore closes on mounting, size the shaft clearance to the fitted bore and avoid finishing methods that would burnish the pores closed.

How to choose

  • Use where a thrust face or positive axial location is needed in addition to radial support.
  • Choose FP20 iron for higher load, slow or oscillating motion, and hardened counterfaces; choose BP25 bronze for quieter, faster or corrosion-sensitive duty.
  • Match Ø Int. to the shaft, Ø Ext. to the housing interference fit, and confirm Ø Coll. and Ép. suit the seating.
  • Full bore span Ø3–Ø60 mm; for a plain (unflanged) iron bush see the cylindrical FP20 range.
