Solid SO16 bearing blanks are oil-impregnated sintered alloy bars provided as raw stock for fully machined self-lubricating bearings in the SO16 grade. Being solid, they let the customer produce any bore and outer profile from a single piece, and because the sintered alloy is porous and oil-saturated throughout, the machined surfaces retain the integral lubricant supply that defines a self-lubricating bush.
Seven diameters are available, Ø20 to Ø145 mm, in lengths of 40 to 120 mm, from small custom parts up to large turned bearings. Finish with sharp tooling and light cuts to avoid burnishing the pores closed, then re-impregnate the part with a compatible impregnation oil to bring it back to full oil content before installation.
