igus iglidur
igus iglidur is one of the most widely specified ranges of dry-running, maintenance-free plain bearings in the world. The bushings are injection-moulded from proprietary tribologically optimised engineering polymers ("tribopolymers") in which the base resin, reinforcing fibres and solid lubricants are homogeneously blended throughout the material. Because the solid lubricants are distributed through the whole wall section rather than applied as a coating, the bearings run dry — without oil or grease — and the low-friction behaviour is maintained as the surface wears, giving predictable service life and clean, contamination-free operation.
The range is engineered for lubrication- and maintenance-free running, corrosion immunity, resistance to dirt, dust and moisture, low weight, vibration damping and quiet operation. Individual iglidur grades are formulated for specific priorities — general-purpose economy, low friction on soft or hard shafts, high load capacity, high temperature, chemical resistance, low moisture absorption for wet or underwater use, or FDA-compliant / food-contact applications — so a buyer can match the polymer to the load, speed, temperature, mating shaft and environment rather than relying on a single universal material.
iglidur bearings are supplied in standardised forms — cylindrical (sleeve) bushings, flanged bushings, thrust washers and clip/press-fit variants — as well as bar stock and machinable blanks for custom geometries. Within a maintenance-free bearing catalogue they are the direct engineering-polymer counterpart to Bushingo's self-lubricating Metafram families: where BP25 oil-impregnated sintered bronze and SO16 sintered alloys deliver metal-based maintenance-free running, iglidur offers an all-polymer, corrosion-proof alternative, and its Metagliss-style low-friction sliding role is served by the composite tribopolymer itself.

Cross-reference
The polymer analogue of Bushingo's flagship self-lubricating bearing. Where Metafram BP25 (oil-impregnated sintered bronze) is the metal default for maintenance-free running, iglidur G is the engineering-polymer default — choose G over BP25 when corrosion immunity, chemical/moisture exposure, low weight or edge-loading tolerance matter more than the higher load and thermal limits of bronze. Cross-references the general-purpose maintenance-free class shared with SKF Composite/PCM and GGB DP4/DX.

Cross-reference
Sits alongside iglidur G as the low-friction, soft-shaft specialist. Comparable in intent to the low-friction sliding role of Metafram Metagliss composite friction plates, but delivered as a moulded bush; select J over BP25 sintered bronze where the shaft is soft/unhardened and stick-slip-free smooth motion is the priority rather than maximum load.
iglidur X
| Material | High-performance tribopolymer for extreme conditions — high temperature combined with chemical resistance |
|---|---|
| Forms | Cylindrical bush, Flanged bush, Thrust washer, Bar stock / blank |
| Typical size range | Standard programme in small-to-medium bores; specified case-by-case for extreme-duty geometries (general guidance) |
Key features
- High continuous and peak temperature capability relative to standard grades
- Broad chemical and media resistance
- Suitable for aggressive, hot or corrosive environments
- Maintenance-free, dry-running, corrosion-proof
- Retains dimensional stability under demanding thermal load
Applications
- Chemical and process plant
- Valves, actuators and fittings in aggressive media
- High-temperature industrial machinery
- Oil, gas and energy equipment
- Harsh-environment handling and dosing systems
Cross-reference
The high-temperature / chemical-duty specialist of the range. Where Bushingo would reach for Metafram SO16 sintered alloy or FP20 sintered iron for elevated-temperature metal bearings, iglidur X is the polymer route when the deciding factor is chemical attack or corrosion that would degrade a metal bushing — an all-polymer alternative to metallic maintenance-free bearings in aggressive media.
iglidur M250
| Material | Tough, impact- and vibration-tolerant tribopolymer prioritising resilience over maximum stiffness |
|---|---|

Key features
- High resilience and tolerance to shock, impact and edge loads
- Good vibration and noise damping
- Forgiving of misalignment and dynamic loading
- Maintenance-free and corrosion-proof
- Robust in dirty, rugged service
Applications
- Agricultural and construction machinery
- Off-highway and vehicle chassis components
- Shock- and vibration-loaded linkages
- Rugged outdoor and mobile equipment
- Applications with impact or oscillating loads
Cross-reference
The shock- and vibration-tolerant grade. Complements Bushingo's rigid sintered-metal bearings (BP25 bronze, FP20 iron) by offering a damping, impact-forgiving polymer where a stiff metal bush would transmit noise or risk edge-load damage; positioned against tough maintenance-free grades in the SKF/GGB polymer ranges.

Cross-reference
A moisture-stable general grade bridging iglidur G and the fully wet-duty W300. Versus Metafram BP25 sintered bronze it gives corrosion immunity plus better dimensional stability in damp air; a polymer alternative where a metal maintenance-free bush would be at risk from humidity.

Cross-reference
The wear-optimised, wet-duty long-life grade. Directly addresses environments where Bushingo's sintered-metal families (BP25, FP20) would corrode or wash out their impregnation oil; iglidur W300 is the maintenance-free polymer answer for water-exposed and high-mileage service, comparable to premium wear grades in the SKF/GGB composite ranges.
